I visited Penang in Malaysia in June 2017. I stayed in Batu Ferringhi and took a local bus to visit George Town for the day. You can read about my 2 days in Penang here.
In 2009, George Town was recognised as a UNESCO World Heritage Site, but it has been the beautiful murals which has drawn tourists to visiting the capital city of Penang.
In 2012, Penang’s municipal council hired Lithuanian artist Ernest Zacharevic to make the streets of George Town a little more exciting to walk through.
I explored some of the street art on foot, and then took a trishaw to take me to the ones I hadn’t visited.
