During April 2016, I travelled to Thailand by myself for three weeks and this was my first solo trip.
Of course I was very nervous at the thought of going to a different country by myself, but it was also very exciting.
I booked my return flights with Qatar Airways, my internal flight from Bangkok to Chiang Mai, a hotel in Chiang Mai for my first night and the one week volunteering project at Elephant Nature Park through STA Travel before I left the U.K. I also booked the hostel in Chiang Mai through booking.com back in the U.K. so I knew I had somewhere to stay once I’d finished the volunteering project. Everything else, I just winged and it worked out absolutely fine. Never doubt yourself.
I can honestly say that travelling alone to Thailand was one of the best things I have ever done, plus the volunteering project at Elephant Nature Park was so rewarding. I feel like solo travelling has really boosted my self confidence, and I can strike up new conversations with people I don’t know a lot easier than I could prior to my trip.
If I can do it, you can do it! Read about my adventure here…
If you have any questions regarding solo travelling, don’t be a stranger. Just leave me a comment below. I’m not an expert as I have only done a handful of solo trips, but I can’t recommend it enough.
